Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an advanced, natural treatment for skin rejuvenation offered at Dr. Burkenstock’s Skin-Body-Health. Our skin is naturally comprised of red blood cells along with serum which contains white blood cells and platelets.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an extract of your own serum containing 3-5 times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins. Growth factors in platelets help skin function by increasing collagen and elastin and contributing antioxidant and hydrating properties. All of this helps to promote tissue healing by stimulating cell turnover.
Platelet-Rich Plasma is now being injected into the skin in the same manner as dermal fillers as well as being used topically along with micro-needling. You are an ideal candidate for PRP therapy if you have premature wrinkles, high levels of solar damage, or anyone who wants an even tone and fresher appearance to their skin.
When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection, it initiates a localized stem cell response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response attracts collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.

It’s nice to layer PRP with traditional fillers. If a patient has volume loss with a lot of fine lines and textural changes, Dr. Burkenstock will use PRP to create a new foundation of collagen and use dermal fillers for the fine lines.
